Russian Pacific Fleet Starts Practicing Naval Engagement


The ships of the Russian Pacific Fleet have started naval battle practice within the framework of the combat readiness check of the Eastern Military District. This information was furnished by the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry.

“Tactical strike groups of missile, antisubmarine and mine sweeping ships in different formations of the Pacific Fleet practice naval engagement with surface action groups of an imaginary enemy in the Sea of Okhotsk and the Sea of Japan,” the press service announced.

According to the statement, the ships will practice different kinds of torpedo, gun and mortar firing, as well as mine laying and sweeping, and air defence.

“At one of the stages of the combat readiness check, the Pacific Fleet will carry out a landing operation on unimproved shore and perform a landing attack,” the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry reported.
