Russian Army to Receive 12 S-400 Regimental Sets by 2020
Russia’s Aerospace Defence Forces will receive 12 regimental sets of S-400 air defence systems before 2020. This was stated by Major General Adrey Demin, Commander-in-Chief of the Air Defence and Anti-Missile Defence Forces of Russia’s Aerospace Defence Troops.
“We plan to equip air defence units of Russia’s Air Defence and Anti-Missile Defence Forces with 12 regimental sets of S-400 missile systems and 72 Pantsir-S short-range air defence systems by 2020. The development work is aimed at creating a new missile system to replace the obsolete S-300P system,” Mr. Demin said, noting that three regiments of the Aerospace Defence Forces have already been armed with the S-400 system.
In addition, theRussiandefence unitswill receivemore than 300radarsof new generation.
“In accordance with the state armaments program, the troops will be supplied with more than 300 radar stations,” Mr. Demin announced.
