Russia to Draft State Program for Domestic Software Development
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has instructed the country’s ministries to draft a state program for the Russian software development by June 2, 2016.
“I instruct the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade together with the Russian Ministry of Communications to draft and submit the subprogram “Development of the Domestic Engineering Software” to the Government of the Russian Federation according to the procedure established,” the list of instructions said.
The decision was made following the Russian council presidium meeting on the modernization of the economy and innovative development. At the meeting, the Prime Minister proposed including new production technologies into a list of priority areas for the development of science and technology and into a list of the so-called critically important technologies.
In July, it was reported that Russian scientists had developed new tablet computers that are capable of operating under water and run a Russian-made operating system.
