Russia and India Discuss Construction of New Kudankulam NPP Units
Russian and Indian nuclear scientists have discussed a project for the construction of new units at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant in southern India. This was announced by NIAEP – Atomstroyexport Director General Valery Limarenko.
“Indian colleagues have told us that they are preparing platforms for cooperation with the Russian Federation,” Mr. Limarenko said in an interview with the Russia 24 channel.
It should be noted that the Kudankulam NPP is considered to be the most important object of the Russian-Indian cooperation. The power plant is being constructed with Russia’s technical assistance in accordance with the Intergovernmental Agreement signed in 1988. The second unit is now at the final stage of construction.
