Russian Satellite “Luch” Placed into Target Orbit


Russian satellite “Luch” was successfully separated from the upper stage Briz-M and reached the target geostationary orbit, Roscosmos representative told to RIA Novosti.

“There has been a separation of the satellite “Luch”, the agency interlocutor said.

The satellite “Luch” was designed and manufactured by JSC “Information Satellite Systems named after Reshetnev”. “According to Roscosmos, the accuracy of GLONASS in Russia may be less than one meter in 2014, when the navigation signal correction system “Luch” will begin to work on a full scale. Thus, the positioning accuracy of GLONASS and the American GPS will be roughly comparable.
