Russia’s ADF to Receive New Air Defence Systems by 2020

Russia’s Aerospace Defence Forces will take delivery of new S-400 Triumf air defence systems by 2020. This information was furnished by Colonel Alexey Zolotukhin, a spokesman of the Russian Defence Ministry’s press service for the Aerospace Defence Forces.

“The servicemen of one of the air defence missile regiments in Moscow Region have finished preparations for the adoption of a new S-400 Triumf air defence system. A total of 12 missile regiments of Russia’s Aerospace Defence Forces will be supplied with new S-400 Triumf air defense systems by 2020,” Mr. Zolotukhin stated.

The S-400 Triumf air defence system is expected to form the cornerstone of Russia’s theater air and missile defences by 2020. The system can engage targets at a maximum range of up to 400 km and at an altitude of 40,000 – 50,000 meters. The system uses a range of missiles and is optimized for engaging ballistic and cruise missiles.
