Russia’s Defence Ministry Ready to Purchase MiG-35S Fighters

Russia’s Defence Ministry and MiG Aircraft Corporation have almost finalized a contract for the supply of MiG-35S helicopters. This was announced by MiG Director General Sergey Korotkov.

“We have made a step forward. There is an understanding on our part and on the part of the Defence Ministry. We had a different vision and understanding of the issue, but the position is closer now, and there is an item in the state defence order, which did not exist before,” Mr. Korotkov noted, but didn’t specify whether the contract would be signed this year or not.

“This issue is to be discussed now. It seems to me that we are at the final stage of the negotiations. The number of helicopters has not been defined and is being discussed at the moment,” Mr. Korotkov stated.

It’s worth noting that the MiG-35 and MiG-35D helicopters are the multipurpose fighters of the “4++” generation representing the advanced version of the MiG-29K/KUB and MiG-29M/M2 fighters with respect to the increased combat effectiveness, versatility and improved operational performance.
