Russian Land Forces to Receive New Military Hardware by 2020
The Russian Land Forces will receive more than 5,000 new and some 6,000 modernized units of armored vehicles and military hardware by 2020. This came in a statement by Commander-in-Chief of the Land Forces, Col. Gen. Oleg Salyukov on Wednesday.
“In accordance with the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, the Ground Forces will be 70 percent equipped with new modern weaponry and military hardware by 2020. The Russian Land Forces will receive T-72B3 tanks, BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles, modernized BMP-2 vehicles, and BTR-82A armored personnel carriers,” Mr. Salyukov noted.
“The BMP-3 vehicles are purchased again, and starting next year they will be delivered in sets to the units of the Ground Forces. In total, more than 5,000 new and some 6,000 modernized units of armored vehicles and military hardware, as well as 14,000 military vehicles, will be purchased by 2020,” Mr. Salyukov concluded.
