Siluanov: Russian Weapons Program Parameters Should Be Realistic
Finance Minister Anton Siluanov believes that Russia in the long term will not be able to afford the state armaments program with parameters comparable with the current ones, and discusses with the Ministry of Defence the more realistic program.
As the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin announced in September, the government funding of new armament program of the Russian Federation for the years 2016-2025 will be comparable to the funding of the current program until 2020 of 20 trillion rubles.
“Now we will prepare a new program of weapons. In this new armament program we want to reconsider that amount of resources that is spent for it to be more realistic,” Siluanov said, noting that the current program was formed on the basis of other, more optimistic macroeconomic forecasts compared with the prevailing situation.
