Russian Scientists Testing New Breakthrough Nuclear Fuel
Russian nuclear specialists are currently testing new fuel to be used in the Proryv innovative project for developing nuclear power technologies of the new generation. This was announced by Scientific Leader at the NIKIET Government Research Institute Evgeny Adamov.
It’s worth noting that the Proryv project launched by Russia’s Rosatom Nuclear Corporation will be implemented at the Siberian Chemical Combine in Seversk (Tomsk Region). The project stipulates the construction of a pilot energy complex, complete with the BREST-OD-300 experimental lead-cooled nuclear reactor and the manufacturing facility for dense nitride uranium-plutonium fuel.
“The first kilogram of dense fuel has been processed using a pyrochemical method at the Scientific Research Institute of Atomic Reactors. We look forward to the results of the experiment,” Mr. Adamov pointed out.
