Russia’s CMD to Create Two Chemical Defence Regiments
Russia’s Central Military District will complete the formation of two regiments of the NBC defence troops in Samara and Altay Regions by the end of the year. This information was presented by Col. Yaroslav Roshupkin, a spokesperson for the Central Military District.
“The regiments of the NBC defence troops will boost the capabilities of the army contingents deployed in Samara and Novosibirsk Regions in fighting the aftermath of technogenic catastrophes,” Mr. Roshupkin pointed out.
Each regiment will receive more than 200 pieces of military hardware and special vehicles, including radiation and chemical reconnaissance vehicles, mobile analytical laboratories, stations for special treatment of the equipment and personnel, flamethrowers, etc.
It should be noted that the Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu said in a conference call with the top military officials of the Armed Forces that the events in the Middle East show that the threat of the use of chemical and biological weapons still remains.
