Development of Soldier Equipment “Ratnik 2” to Take 10-15 Years

Development of second-generation equipment for “future soldier” “Ratnik 2” may take 10-15 years, the CEO of the Foundation for Advanced Studies Andrei Grigoryev told during the forum “Open Innovations”.

“The depth of the project – 15-20 years. This does not mean that we have 15 years of work, this means that what we are launching now, will pass all stages of the life cycle in order to put into service in 15 years. Therefore, we have 3-4 years for fund project, followed by R&D and mass production. So we will wait for the “Ratnik 2″ by 2025-2030,” Grigoriev said.

“Ratnik” is the Russian military equipment for “future soldier” that combines modern firearms, effective protection kits, reconnaissance and communications means, in total about 10 different subsystems.
