Russia to Launch New Satellite for Earth Observation in December
The launch of Russian satellite for optronic observation of surface of the Earth “Resurs-P” No.2 is scheduled for December, the representative of the Samara RCC “Progress” told to RIA Novosti on Friday.
Space system of the two devices will greatly enhance the capabilities of remote sensing of the Earth. In the future, it is supposed the replenishment of the group: third unit should be delivered to the launch site in 2015.
“At present, “Resurs-P” No.2 is at final radio tests in the RCC “Progress”. The launch is scheduled for December of this year,” the agency interlocutor said.
The first unit of the series, “Resurs-P” No.1, launched on June 15, 2013, is designed for high-precision, detailed broadband and hyperspectral optical-electronic monitoring the Earth’s surface. The unit is in normal operation now.
