Rosneft and Gazprom to Cooperate in Arctic Technologies Development
Russia’s Federal Agency for Subsoil Use has suggested that Rosneft and Gazprom cooperate in the development of technologies for oil and gas exploration in the Arctic Shelf. This was announced by Orest Kasparov, Deputy Head of Russia’s Federal Agency for Subsoil Use, on Thursday.
“As for the issue related to the Arctic, we are likely to grant the last licenses on the Arctic Shelf exploration to Rosneft and Gazprom, and we think that these two companies could pool together efforts to create a consortium on the development of technologies for the Arctic subsoil exploration,” the official said at the National Oil and Gas Forum in Moscow.
It should be noted that Russia intends to strengthen its military, political and economic position in the Arctic. In April, Russian President Vladimir Putin authorized the establishment of a new state body for the implementation of Russia’s national policy in the region.
