Russia and Belarus are expanding the program of military exercises in 2015 due to the new threats posed to the Union State. This came in a statement by Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu on Wednesday.

“We have decided to expand the program of military exercises. The expansion is linked to the changing situation near our borders and in the world as a whole,” Mr. Shoygu told journalists after a session of the ministerial board.

According to the Defence Minister of the Russian Federation, the servicemen would like to drill joint actions due to the new threats posed to the Union State. Belarusian Defence Minister Yury Zhadobin said that the country’s Defence Ministry would expand the format of the Union Shield 2015 drills on the proposal of his Russian counterpart.
