Russian Navy to Adopt Project 11356 Frigate in November

The lead Project 11356 frigate, the Admiral Grigorovich, is due to be handed over to the Russian Navy on November 7. This was reported by a delegation of the Yantar shipyard at the EURONAVAL-2014 exhibition on Wednesday.

“On November 7, we will hand over the frigate to the Russian Fleet at a solemn ceremony to be attended by Commander-in-Chief Viktor Chirkov,” the representative of the Yantar shipyard said.

It’s worth noting that the Admiral Grigorovich was laid down in December 2010 and was set afloat in March this year. The frigate is part of the six ships being constructed in Kaliningrad, including the Admiral Essen, the Admiral Makarov, the Admiral Butakov, the Admiral Istomin, and the Admiral Kornilov. Russia’s United Shipbuilding Corporation said in June that the Black Sea Fleet would receive a series of six Project 11356 frigates by 2017.
