RAS Proposed Four Major Projects for Modernization of Russian Economy

Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) provides for the implementation four major projects from different areas of high technology for the modernization of the Russian economy, RAS President Vladimir Fortov told to reporters on Thursday.

According to Fortov, he presented these projects on Tuesday at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The first project involves the introduction to the Russian energy industry of combined-cycle plants, the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences noticed.

The second project deals with “smart” power grids.

“Our network facilities are worn by 60-70 percent. It is the reason of large network losses,” Fortov said, adding that in order to reduce the accident rate we should use “a symbiosis of power networks and information technology”.
