Submarine “Novorossiysk” to Be Tested at Greater Depths


The new diesel-electric submarine “Novorossiysk” completed the two-week transition from the shipyard to St. Petersburg and arrived at the Northern Fleet for the passage of deep-tests, Interfax-AVN reported with reference to the official representative of the Northern Fleet, captain 1st rank Vadim Serga.

“In the Northern Fleet the crew of “Novorossiysk” will go through the next stage of state trials in the deep areas of the Barents Sea, as well as perform the course objectives and prepare the ship for the subsequent transition to the point of permanent basing,” V.Serga said.

He noted that the characteristic of series of submarines of the project “is a combination of small size and low noise with powerful torpedoes and torpedo-missile weapons.”
