Russia’s CMD Receives First Iskander-M Missile Systems
A brigade set of Iskander-M tactical ballistic missile systems was transferred to the troops deployed in the Russian Central Military District. The official ceremony was attended by Commander of the Central Military District Col. Gen. Vladimir Zarudnitsky, Commander of Missile Troops and Artillery of the Ground Troops Maj. Gen. Mikhail Matveevsky, and representatives of the defence industry.
According to the information available, this was the fourth missile formation of the Ground Troops and the first formation in the Central Military District fully transferred to the operation of Iskander missile systems. The unit took delivery of launchers, transporter loaders, command and staff vehicles, life-supporting equipment and an information support point.
The Iskander-M has no rivals in the world. The highly maneuverable missile system hits targets at a distance of up to 500 kilometers. The missile system is armed with cruise and ballistic missiles.
