Russia to Test Ka-52K Attack Helicopters in Early 2015

The first flights of Ka-52K attack helicopters designed for Mistral-class amphibious assault ships will take place in 2015. This came in a statement by Russian Helicopters CEO Alexander Mikheev on Tuesday.

“The helicopters of this type will be located on Mistral-class helicopter carriers, which France is obliged to deliver to Russia. The first helicopters have already been constructed. The first trial flights of Ka-52K helicopters will take place in the beginning of 2015,” Mr. Mikheev pointed out.

It’s necessary to mention that the handover of the first ship, the Vladivostok, was scheduled for November 14, but did not take place. According to media reports, French President Francois Hollande postponed the delivery of the Vladivostok to Russia due to the situation in Ukraine.

It should be noted that DCNS and Rosoboronexport signed a €1.2 billion contract for two Mistral-class helicopter carriers in 2011.
