Nuclear Submarine “Obninsk” Successfully Launched Cruise Missile from Barents Sea
Nuclear submarine of the Northern Fleet “Obninsk” successfully launched cruise missile from the Barents Sea on range Chizha in the Arkhangelsk region, the press service of the Western Military District on the Northern Fleet reported.
Planned shooting was successful: the rocket “hit the target on the range.”
“Conducting missile firing from a submerged position became the first for submarines of the Northern Fleet in the new school year, and for the Nuclear submarine “Obninsk”- the first major test of weapons after the dock repairs ended in 2014,” the report says.
“Obninsk” became a member of the Northern Fleet on February 28, 1991, the submarine was involved in complex exercises of the Northern Fleet.
