Russian Army to Receive 800 Radars by 2020
The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will receive about 800 radar stations by 2020. This statement was made by Deputy Commander of the Aerospace Defence Forces Kirill Makarov.
“By 2020, our troops are likely to receive 800 modern radar stations,” Mr. Makarov said, noting that the Air Defence Forces will be provided with the advanced S-500 antiaircraft missile systems.
The radar stations are designed for detecting air, sea and ground targets, as well as determining their range, speed and shape. The operation of the radar station is based on the emission of radio waves and registration of their reflections from objects.
It should be noted that the Aerospace Defence Forces are currently receiving modern military radars capable of detecting air targets at all altitudes of duty and combat modes. In particular, the troops have recently received a regimental set of the S-400 antiaircraft missile system.
