Russia’s UEC Discussing Supplies of CFM56 Parts

The United Engine Corporation is negotiating the supply of spare parts for the CFM56 aircraft engines used by Boeing and Airbus. According to UEC Director General Vladislav Masalov, the parties are currently discussing the delivery of an experimental batch of gears for Hispano-Suiza, specializing in the production of gearboxes for the CFM56 engines.

As reported by the company’s press service, the contract with Hispano-Suiza may become the first independent order for production of the CFM56 accessories by the United Engine Corporation. Today, the parts for these engines are produced at the Rybinsk-based joint venture established by Snecma and NPO Saturn in 2005 to build the SaM146 engines.

According to Mr. Masalov, the United Engine Corporation continues discussing the opportunities of repairing and servicing the CFM56 engines in Rybinsk. Repair of these engines seems to be one of the most attractive segments of the civil aircraft maintenance market.
