Tank “Armata” to Receive Guided Missile

To arm prospective new generation tank “Armata” it is created a guided missile with unexpected characteristics to the enemy, “Weapons of Russia” portal reported referring to the chairman of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation Oleg Bochkarev.

“The new tank will have guided missile with improved performance, it is very surprising for our opponent,” Bochkarev said. He recalled that the Russian military-industrial complex has accumulated extensive experience of equipping tank with guided missiles fired through the barrel of the gun. Previously, only Soviet tanks were equipped with such missiles.

Unified heavy undercarriage “Armata” is developed by Uralvagonzavod since 2009. The family of “Armata” will include main battle tank, heavy infantry fighting vehicle, tank support combat vehicle. The platform will also be used to create self-propelled artillery, armored recovery vehicle and other vehicles.
