The first flight of the advanced bomber for the Russian Air Force known as PAK DA is expected to take place in 2019-2020, and the Russian Army is due to adopt it in 2023-2025. This was announced by Long-Range Aviation Commander, Lieutenant General Anatoly Zhikharev.
“In the future, we will have a new plane known as PAK DA. It is expected that the first test flights will begin in 2019-2020, and the Russian Air Force will adopt it in 2023-2025”, Mr. Zhikharev stated.
According to previous reports, the maiden flight of the new bomber was scheduled for 2019. In summer, Russian Air Force Commander Colonel General Viktor Bondarev said that the serial production will begin in 2021-2022.
As explained by Mr. Zhikharev, the Russian Air Force will also modernize and develop a fleet of aerial tankers, as well as improve the infrastructure for long-range aviation.
