Russian Arms Manufacturers Increased Sales by 20 Percent
Enterprises of the Russian military-industrial complex became the only in the world, whose sales at the end of 2013 increased by 20 percent. It follows from the rating of hundred largest defense companies in the world, published by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI). According to experts interviewed by the newspaper “Kommersant”, this year the growth of Russian defense enterprises will not change, but it will decline in 2015 due to Western sanctions.
In total, sales of military products of companies included in the annual ranking of SIPRI, amounted to 402 billion dollars. Compared with 2012, this figure fell by 3.9 per cent. A press release from the Stockholm Institute notes that the rate of decline in sales could be higher, but in general, the fall was relatively insignificant precisely thanks to Russian defense enterprises.
SIPRI included ten Russian enterprises in the top one hundred largest companies in 2013.
