Russia Testing Sarmat Heavy Liquid ICBM

Russia is currently testing components and assemblies for the newest Sarmat heavy liquid ICBM designed for replacing the Satan missile. This came in a statement by Strategic Missile Forces Commander Col. Gen. Sergey Karakaev.

“The development of the Sarmat missile complex with a heavy liquid ICBM is carried out in strict accordance with the approved schedule. We are currently testing individual components and assemblies, and creating the latest experimental base,” Mr. Karakaev said, expressing confidence that Russia will build the new missile by 2020.

“We have no doubt that the new heavy liquid missile will be created by the end of this decade. The creation and further production of these missiles will be based on cooperation of Russian companies,” the Strategic Missile Forces Commander continued.

The Sarmat missile will feature high combat power, ensuring the possibility of implementing a wide range of paths and directions of the missile, as well as application of new special tools and ways to overcome missile defences.
