This was announced on Thursday, December18, to “Interfax” by the General Director of JSC “Production Association “Northern Machine-Building Enterprise” (Sevmash, part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation) Mikhail Budnichenko.
“In June, St. Andrew’s flag was raised on the head nuclear submarine of the 4th generation of the “Yasen” project – “Severodvinsk”. This is a significant event for the Russian shipbuilding industry and Navy. The multipurpose nuclear-powered submarine (NPS) of project 885 (designer – St. Petersburg Marine engineering Bureau “Malakhit”) today has no analogues in the world. This submarine for the first time in the practice of the Russian Navy allows implementing a new feature – a strategic non-nuclear deterrence,” Budnichenko said.
