Sixth Borey Submarine to Be Laid at Sevmash on Friday


Sixth nuclear submarine of the Project 955 “Borey” will be laid on Friday at “Sevmash”, the enterprise reported to RIA Novosti.

Currently, the combat strength of the Navy adopted three Borey class submarines: “Yury Dolgoruky” (Northern Fleet), “Alexander Nevsky” and “Vladimir Monomakh” (both – the Pacific Fleet). Two more submarine – “Knyaz Oleg” and “Knyaz Vladimir” are building on “Sevmash”.

“Today at “Sevmash” it will be an official ceremony of laying of sixth Borey class nuclear submarine, entitled “Knyaz Suvorov,” a spokesman said.

The ceremony will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Defense Minister Yuri Borisov and other officials. In total up to 2020 it is planned to adopt eight submarines of Borey project.
