Equipment for Development of Ice Offshore Reserves Created in Russia


Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering (CDB ME) “Rubin” in conjunction with the Foundation for Advanced Studies (FPI) are working on the creation of the latest technology for subglacial development of Arctic shelf.

This was announced by the general director of “Rubin” Igor Vilnit, Tass reports. According to him, the question is a technique for oil and gas production on the shelf, this development will solve the problem of import substitution in this area.

“We are working on advanced research, which is headed by Dmitry Rogozin, on the development of appropriate technology for subglacial development,” Igor Vilnit said, adding that the work is under the auspices of the Foundation for Advanced Studies.

The head of “Rubin” said he could not disclose all the details, because the development is carried out in a competitive environment. “This technology is unique in the world, he said. There were two attempts to create a similar technique in the United States and Norway, but they do not have the development.”
