Russia to Double Earth Remote Sensing Capabilities
The second Resurs-P spacecraft will allow Russia to solve a number of monitoring issues using a system of multiple satellites. The satellites will supply government and commercial customers with more multispectral information characterized by superhigh, high or medium resolution, and hyperspectral data. The Resurs-P No. 2 complex for high resolution imaging of the Earth is universal and can take photos in different spectral bands with different resolution on the ground (from 120 to 1 m).
“Commissioning of the second Resurs-P spacecraft will considerably reinforce the Russian group of the Earth remote sensing satellites and make it possible to implement an effective monitoring system. In 2015, we plan to launch the third Resurs-P spacecraft to complete forming an orbital system for high resolution imaging,” Deputy Chief Designer at JSC Russian Space Systems Victor Selin stated.
