Russian Segment of ISS Can Be Used for Commercial Purposes
The project of construction of a new space station does not exist in the documents of new Federal Space Program. This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Russian Federal Space Agency Sergey Savelyev, RIA Novosti reported.
“We have the theoretical possibility of creating a new Russian space station. Moreover, this project can be implemented in international cooperation. In particular with China. However, neither the current nor the future project of the federal space program does not contain this topic, its implementation can be linked with terms of the ISS,” Savelyev said in an interview, which will be published on Tuesday in “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
According to him, the most realistic scenario in the short term is the cooperation on joint Russian-Chinese experiments on board the Russian segment of the ISS. In the future it will be possible to conduct experiments aboard the free-flying unmanned OKA-T modules. And also to mutually place the scientific instruments on the automatic interplanetary station of our countries.
