Russia to Deeply Modernize Air Defence Troops by 2017
Russia will complete modernizing its Air Defence Forces by the end of 2016. This information was presented by the press service of the Russian Defence Ministry on Tuesday.
“The units and divisions of the Air Defence Forces will receive about 60% of modern weapons by the end of 2015. In particular, the troops will take delivery of new air defence systems with increased fire capabilities, compact low-altitude radar detectors and automated management tools with reconnaissance equipment. The modernization program is due to be implemented by the end of 2016,” the press service stated, noting that large-scale rearmament of the Air Defence Forces will be performed for the first time in the history of the troops.
It’s necessary to mention that the airborne units deployed in Ivanovo, Ulyanovsk and Novorossiysk have already received the latest antiaircraft missile systems.
