Russian Navy to Receive Advanced Patrol Boats This Year

The Russian Navy will receive eight Raptor patrol boats in 2015. Four boats built in 2014 are currently undergoing state trials in the Black Sea. This was announced by Deputy Chief of the Russian Navy for Armament Victor Bursuk.

“In accordance with the shipbuilding program of the Russian Navy, the Naval Forces will adopt eight Raptor patrol boats before the end of 2015,” Mr. Bursuk said, adding that four boats which are undergoing state trials will be transferred to the Russian Navy in the first half of 2015 after check of their operation and seaworthiness, navigation, communications, life support systems and airborne weapons.

It should be noted that the Raptor boats can operate in coastal waters, straits and estuaries. The equipment allows them to set tasks at any time of the day at a distance of 100 miles from the base.
