Russian Navy to Adopt Ivan Gren Landing Ship in 2015

The Ivan Gren large landing ship (Project 11711) will be transferred to the Russian Navy in late 2015. This was announced by Captain 1st Rank Igor Dygalo, a spokesman of the Defence Ministry for the Naval Forces.

“The naval flag will be raised on the ship after the completion of construction and state tests. It is expected that the Kaliningrad-based Yantar Shipyard will complete installing the machines, devices and weapon systems that will allow the crew of the ship to begin the first stage of the factory sea trials. The tests will be finished in August. The communications, navigation, life support systems and naval weapons will be checked in September,” Mr. Dygalo stated.

According to the information furnished by the Russian Defence Ministry, the vessels of the Ivan Gren class will form the core of the Russian Navy’s landing fleet.
