Lin Industrial Ready to Create Lunar Base
The Russian company Lin Industrial will spend about 550 billion rubles and 10 years to establish a lunar base, while the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Federal Space Agency request to allocate 2 trillion rubles for its research and development before 2025.
“According to preliminary estimates, a lunar base of the first stage for two crew members and of the second stage for four crew members will cost about 550 billion rubles,” Chief Designer Alexander Ilyin stated, noting that the project will use only existing rocket and space technologies and resources to be created within the next five years.
According to the information available, the Angara-A5 rocket will be used as a booster, with a lander being created on the basis of the Fregat upper stage. Lin Industrial plans to perform 13 launches of heavy rockets for building a lunar base and 37 launches for maintaining its operation within the next five years.
