Satellite “Lomonosov” to Be First for Cosmodrome “Vostochy”
Rector of Moscow State University Viktor Sadovnichy at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the first satellite to be launched from the Russian cosmodrome “Vostochy”, is ready and has been called “Lomonosov”.
“On January 25 the university will celebrate 260 years, we meet that date with good success,” V.Sadovnichy said.
According to Interfax-AVN among the scientific achievements of the university Sadovnichiy called the opening in December of unique observatory in Karachay-Cherkessia. “It is equipped with the latest equipment, and by size – the second in Russia,” the rector said.
“Now in the space we need to create an appropriate system,” the head of state said, noting that MSU has already created several spacecraft.
V.Sadovnichy also said that at a recent international rating of supercomputers MSU took 22nd place.
