Russia’s SMD to Adopt Two Uran-6 Demining Robot Systems

The Engineering Troops of the Southern Military District will receive two Uran-6 remote multifunctional demining robot systems in February. This was announced by Head of Southern Military District’s Engineering Troops Konstantin Smeshko.

“The Engineering Troops of the Southern Military District are expected to take delivery of two demining robot systems in 2015. We have tested this equipment at the high altitude, and it showed very good results. The Chief of the Russian Engineering Troops has instructed to equip the Engineering Troops with this complex as soon as possible and ensure the safety of sappers,” Mr. Smeshko commented.

According to the information available, 15 complexes are currently undergoing the final stage of factory trials, with two units to be delivered to the Southern Military District and used in the territory of Chechnya and Ingushetia.
