Fourth Submarine “Varshavyanka” to Be Launched in April
Diesel-electric submarine “Krasnodar”, the fourth in a series of project 636.3 for the Black Sea Fleet, is planned to be floated up at the “Admiralty Shipyards” in St. Petersburg in April, a source in the shipbuilding industry told RIA Novosti.
Until 2016, according to the plans of the High Command of the Navy, it must be built six submarines of project 636.3. All of them will be part of the submarine forces of the Black Sea Fleet.
All six ships of the series, built at the JSC “Admiralty Shipyards”, are named after the cities, bearing the honorary title of “City of Military Glory”. The first boat of the series – “Novorossiysk” – was transferred to the Navy of Russia on August 22, 2014, the second – “Rostov-on-Don” – in late December. Launching of the third order – “Stary Oskol” was held on August 28, 2014. The fourth ship of the series – “Krasnodar” – was founded in February, and on October 30 it was laid the final two submarines “Veliky Novgorod” and “Kolpino”. The construction of the entire series is effectuated in compliance with contractual obligations.
