The plant “Rostvertol” (part of the holding “Russian Helicopters”) expects to increase the capabilities of the most weight lifting helicopter in the world Mi-26T, which was launched into series production 30 years ago. It is reported by the press service of the holding.

“Despite the relevance and unmatched flight characteristics, Mi-26T is constantly being upgraded. Currently we are effectuating flight tests of upgraded Mi-26T2 with a reduced number of crew members, “glass” cockpit, advanced avionics and the possibility of night use, which significantly improves ergonomics and reduces the load on the crew,” was said in a statement received by Interfax AVN on Wednesday.

Mi-26T helicopter, capable of carrying up to 20 tons of equipment and bulky cargo on external sling or in the cargo hold today remains the record-holder on carrying capacity.
