East Military District in 2015 to Receive Be-200 Aircraft for Transportation of Goods

Amphibious aircraft Be-200 for the first time will join the East Military District under the state defense order for 2015. The aircraft can be used to transport goods and extinguish fires from the air in a strong smoke, the East Military District said Wednesday.

“As part of the 2015 state defense order in the current year one of the airbases in Primorsky Krai must receive the multipurpose amphibious aircraft Be-200. The aircraft is able to land on the ground and ice airfields, as well as water, transport aboard up to 6 tons of cargo, and up to 12 tons of water,” was said in the information.

It is noted that the Be-200 is equipped with navigation equipment which allows to go on the fire, and during the re-run it automatically leads the aircraft in place of the previous drop, which is particularly important in heavy smoke. Eight water tanks are located under the floor of the cargo compartment. In addition, the aircraft in the transport version can solve the problem of cargo delivery to remote areas where there is no ground airfields.
