Russian President Signs Decree on Chief Armaments Designers
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on the status of chief designers of armaments. The list of chief designers will include no more than 20 names, and the status and responsibility of such officials will increase.
“The chief designers will create strategically important weapons and, respectively, they will be granted wide powers in terms of using the resources. There will be no more than 20 such designers. Each candidature will be considered by the Military-Industrial Commission’s Board and then authorized at the Commission’s meeting,” Mr. Putin stated.
It should be noted that the experts have repeatedly discussed the issue of developing measures to restore the status and the role of chief designers in creating the Russian military equipment. It was planned to establish the Council of Chief Designers under the Military-Industrial Commission with the participation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Rostec and United Aircraft Corporation.
