Experiment on Registration of Micro-debris DRAGONS to Be Conducted at ISS


New technology of registration of space micro-debris will be tested in the US segment of the International Space Station (ISS) in 2016, the Russian space industry representative said on Monday to “Interfax-AVN”.

“At the beginning of October 2016 in the US segment of the ISS with an agreement of the Russian part it will begin the experiment The Debris Resistive Acoustic Grid Orbital Navy Sensor (DRAGONS). During it in 2-3 years it will be tested new registration technology of microparticles of space debris on the outside surface of the station,” a spokesman said.

The source noted that modern means of space control succeed to register the objects of no less than 0.5-1 cm at a distance of 1000-2000 km.
