Icebreakers and raid tugs of Pacific Fleet will ensure safe navigation of ships in the north-east and submarines of the Pacific Fleet in Avacha Bay in heavy ice conditions, the headquarters of the Eastern Military District inform.

“Icebreakers “Susanin” and “Sadko” and raid tugs in coils Bogorodskoe lake, Ilichev, Malaya Lagernaya and Krasheninnikova cut away the ice fields, allowing surface ships and submarines at any time to go to sea to carry out combat missions,” the press service of the Eastern Military District reported to “Interfax-AVN” on Monday.

It notes that “the edges, beaches and some coves of Avacha Gulf were covered by almost a meter of ice due to severe and prolonged frosts”. “Therewith the ice near berths blocks the ships and submarines, as well as cause danger of compression of ship bodies with ice masses,” Eastern Military District headquarters inform.
