Russia to Develop Naval Version of Tor-M2E Missile System

The Izhevsk-based Kupol Electromechanical Plant plans to develop a naval version of the Tor-M2E missile system. This statement was made by Director General Fanil Ziyatdinov.

“We are currently working with the Russian Defence Ministry to develop the solution that will make it possible to use this missile system on ships under overhaul and modernization. This is a new direction for our company. We have always worked with the Ground Forces,” Mr. Ziyatdinov stated, adding that the plant had also developed a new modular version of the Tor complex.

“This is an autonomous combat unit that can be mounted on any chassis and can be fixed on semitrailers, trailers, wagons and lightweight vessels,” Mr. Ziyatdinov said, noting that the company successfully fulfilled the state defence order in 2014. More than 500 million rubles were allocated for its development in 2014.
