Head Frigate of New Project to Enter Russian Navy in Autumn


The head frigate of the project 22350 “Admiral Gorshkov” is planned to be delivered to the Russian Navy in the Autumn of 2015, Fleet Commander Admiral Viktor Chirkov told reporters on Friday.

The frigate “Admiral Gorshkov” was laid on the “Severnaya Verf” in February 2006 and launched in October 2010. It is planned to build eight frigates of the project 22350.

We are planning to receive “Admiral Gorshkov” in the Autumn. She passes the test, all goes according to plan, we are proceeding to the second stage of testing,” Chirkov said.

The ships of the project have a displacement of 4.5 million tons, a length of 135 meters and a width of 15 meters. The frigates will be armed with ship artillery unit A-192 “Armat” caliber 130 mm, 16 launchers for anti-ship missiles “Oniks” or “Kalibr-NKE” and anti-aircraft missile system “Poliment-Redut”.


Russia Building New Destroyer with Nuclear Power Unit


The priority task when creating a new generation of destroyers is its equipment with nuclear power unit, Russian Navy Commander Admiral Viktor Chirkov told reporters on Friday in St. Petersburg.

Currently, the effective forces of the Russian Navy have a surface ship with nuclear power unit – heavy nuclear missile cruiser “Petr Velikiy”.

“We are currently executing the design and construction work of a new generation destroyer with a special propulsion system. The priority direction in the creation of the destroyer is a destroyer with a nuclear power unit,” Chirkov said.

MiG Ready to Deliver MiG-35 Fighters to Egypt


Russian Aircraft Corporation “MiG” (RAC “MiG”) is ready to deliver to Egypt the latest MiG-35, if the African country has such a desire, CEO Sergei Korotkov told RIA Novosti on Friday.

“If Egypt decides to buy our planes, we are happy to assembly and deliver them. If they have a desire to negotiate with us, we will negotiate with them. We have no objection to this,” Korotkov said at the air show Aero India-2015 organized in the Indian city Bangalore.

Kalashnikov to Show Modernized AK-101 in Abu Dhabi


Concern “Kalashnikov” will present more than 20 modern small arms, including modernized Kalashnikov assault rifle AK-101 and the submachine gun “Vityaz-SN” at the exhibition IDEX-2015 in Abu Dhabi, the press service of the company said on Thursday.

Russian Admirals Test New Simulator in St. Petersburg


The specialists of the Russian Navy’s High Command have tested a new simulator designed for evaluating the effectiveness of decisions made by fleet commanders. This statement was made by Navy Commander, Admiral Viktor Chirkov.

The commanders of Russia’s four fleets and the Caspian Flotilla, as well as heads of the fleet military administration are currently taking part in the meeting at the Naval Academy named after N. G. Kuznetsov in St. Petersburg.

“This simulator is capable of evaluating the effectiveness of decisions made by a fleet commander on the use of force and giving objective recommendations. This allows fleet commanders to see the strengths and weaknesses of their decisions on the use of force in the area of their responsibility and achieve greater effectiveness,” Mr. Chirkov said.

The Navy Commander also noted that the equipment had been designed by the St. Petersburg Institute for Informatics and Automation of the RAS upon request of the Russian Navy’s High Command.

Russian Army to Receive New Field Uniform


The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will adopt a new field uniform by the end of this year. This came in a statement by Deputy Defence Minister Dmitry Bulgakov.

“All categories of servicemen will receive a new all-season field uniform by the end of 2015,” Mr. Bulgakov said, adding that a new field uniform is characterized by high functionality and allows the soldiers to carry out all types of combat and special missions under various climatic and weather conditions.

The Deputy Defence Minister also noted that conscripts would receive new demi-season jackets and casual clothes, scarves, shoes, fur caps and so on. The new field uniform will also comprise a new belt. Mr. Bulgakov said that the uniform for marines would be black, for paratroopers and pilots – blue, for other servicemen – khaki.

Uralvagonzavod to Showcase New Developments in UAE


Russia’s Uralvagonzavod Scientific and Production Corporation will present its new developments in the field of special equipment at the IDEX 2015 international exhibition of arms and military equipment that will be held in Abu Dhabi on February 22-26. This was reported by the press service of Uralvagonzavod.

The company will showcase the upgraded T-90S tank representing current trends in the development of armored vehicles and adapted to the climatic conditions of the region. The demonstration program will be organized as a static display with presentation events giving an opportunity to get acquainted with combat and operational characteristics of the product.

“The company will present a new unmanned combat module armed with a 57mm automatic gun developed by JSC Burevestnik Central Research Institute. The module characterized by unique layout solutions and high power of ammunition is capable of destroying most of the existing armored facilities in a battlefield,” the press center informed.

Russian Helicopters Presenting Best Products in India


Russian Helicopters is demonstrating the latest Russian-made commercial and military helicopters at the Aero India 2015 international air show in Bangalore.
