TsAGI Successfully Tests Fin Box for MS-21-300 Aircraft


The Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky tested the metal and composite construction of the MS-21-300 fin box for flight loads. The specialists performed detailed measurements of the stress and strain state of the fin box and compared the test results with the calculations. The part has been developed by the Engineering Center named after A.S. Yakovlev of JSC Irkut Corporation, produced in ORPE Technologiya and assembled according to the serial production technology at the Aviastar-SP factory.

“The analytical work has shown that the first stage of static tests was successful,” Deputy Chief Alexander Dzyuba stated.

“The trials were attended by leaders and specialists of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute, JSC Irkut Corporation, Ulyanovsk Branch of JSC Irkut Corporation and NPL Kompozit that emphasizes the importance of this stage for the MS-21-300 project,” Deputy Director General of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute Mikhail Zichenkov said.
