Russia’s Express-A No. 2 Satellite Continues Operating in Orbit
The Express-A No. 2 telecommunications satellite which was designed and manufactured by ISS Reshetnev Company has been operating for 15 years in orbit. The Express-A No. 2 satellite was designed with a 5-year active lifetime to provide communications, television and radio broadcasting, data transmission and Internet access services. As of today, this satellite continues carrying out its mission in orbit.
It should be noted that the Express-A No. 2 satellite was built on the basis of a unified pressurized platform developed by ISS Reshetnev Company. The payload consisting of 12 active C-band and 5 active Ku-band transponders was provided by Alcatel Espace.
The Express-A No. 2 has become the first geostationary satellite produced by ISS Reshetnev Company to reach a 15-year milestone of operation. This achievement proves the effectiveness of engineering solutions implemented in the Express-A No. 2 satellite construction project.
