Russia and USA Remain World’s Biggest Arms Exporters
The USA and Russia are the world’s largest exporters of conventional weapons. This was reported by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute after publication of the data on deliveries of conventional weapons and military equipment from 2010 to 2014.
The database of the institute covers the period from 1950. The specialists use a five-year moving average to account for fluctuations in the volume of arms deliveries.
According to the data published by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, the five biggest exporters included the USA, Russia, China, Germany and France. Together, they accounted for 74 percent of the volume of arms exports. The USA and Russia remained the largest exporters, accounting for 31 percent and 27 percent of the global trade respectively.
