The specialized Su-25 aircrafts designed for destroying air defence systems will be put into service with the Russian Air Force in 2014.

According to a source in the Air Force Command, flight testing of an attack aircraft on the Su-25 basis is likely to be completed in May 2013. This aircraft is able to detect and destroy the most powerful air defence systems, such as Patriot SAM. The new model has been equipped with special-purpose antennas that can detect the radio emission direction and classify the source type.

The aircraft will also be equipped with the units for laser and infrared radiation detection. It should be noted that all onboard devices and modules are integrated into a single system, with a type of interference being independently selected by the computer with regard to the information received.

The tactical and strategic mission of the new specialized Su-25 aircraft consists in leading a group of conventional attack aircrafts or bombers. At the same time, it can be used as an independent unit.

ZALA Aero Group has developed a protected navigation and communication system for unmanned aerial vehicles. This came in a statement by Nikita Zakharov, the Deputy Director General of the company.

“Thanks to this system, an unmanned aerial vehicle is able to perform its tasks in the normal mode and return to base even if satellite navigation signals are lost,” Mr. Zakharov said.

According to the official information, a special radio range finder is used to control an unmanned aerial vehicle under noise conditions. At the same time, it should be noted that the communication equipment is fully protected, thus preventing the communication from being interrupted.

ZALA Aero Group is one of the leading designers and manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles and integrated navigation systems in the Russian Federation. Since 2004, the company has developed and produced several types of aircrafts and helicopters on the basis of a unique automatic control system. The unmanned vehicles manufactured by ZALA Aero Group make a significant contribution to the security and development of the Russian economy.

Russia to Boost Its Arms Exports

The IDEX arms exhibition is over. According to the experts, Russia has demonstrated many samples of its latest hardware which may top the sales charts in the short run.

Today, Russia is considered to be the second largest arms exporter to the Middle East after the United States. For a number of political reasons, Russia cannot compete with the United States in the Israeli and Saudi markets, but it trades successfully with other Middle East countries. In particular, Russia is now about to sing a breakthrough contract with Iraq. It has been successfully cooperating with Algeria, Jordan, the Emirates, and other Middle East and Arab nations. There has been renewed interest towards Russian arms in Libya and Egypt.

The Russian anti-aircraft systems, infantry weapons and aircrafts are in high demand in the Middle East. The sales prospects for the T-72 tanks and particularly the latest version of the T-90, or the T-90SM, are really promising.

New contracts are likely to be signed for the supply of air defence systems, Yak-130 military training planes and helicopters. It should be noted that the Middle East remains Russia’s second largest arms market after Southeast Asia.
